Outdoor Activities to Host in Your Community

Outdoor Activities

Summer is quickly approaching, and in many cases, that means the sun is out and warm weather is in full effect! Early summer is a great time to host outdoor activities in your community before it gets too hot, and we’re here to share a few ideas of ways that you can get your residents involved outside. Events can range from kids-only to adults-only and even to pet-based, allowing you to find what’s best for your community members!

Looking for outdoor activity suggestions now that the weather is warm? We have you covered!

Warm Weather Activity Suggestions:

  • Host a picnic where residents can mingle and soak up the sun! Feeling extravagant? Make it a potluck picnic where residents can bring their own summer dish!
  • If your community has a pool, host a pool party to kick off the summer season. The first day of summer this year is Thursday, June 20th!
  • No pool? No problem. Opt for a barbeque instead!
  • Who doesn’t love a summer night? Host a bonfire if your community has a firepit before it gets too hot. Kids can make s’mores, and adults can too!
  • Feed everyone’s inner child by having a make-your-own sundae bar! Fixins are fun and so is your community when you host events for residents!
  • Host a community Olympics for those residents who are maybe more competitive and active. You can even parallel it with the Summer Olympics this year, which are in Paris from July 26th to August 11th!
  • Set up a summer field day with games like corn-hole and volleyball, and maybe even a food truck or two if space allows. Try adding a tie-dye table for the kids or a wine tasting for the adults!

The ideas are certainly not limited when it comes to outdoor activities, what matters is what works best for your community! However you may choose to do so, be sure to get your residents engaged this summer. Looking for staff in your community? Request an employee here! Searching for an open position near you?
