Employee of the Year: Amanda Southard

amanda

Congrats to Amanda Southard on being InterSolutions’ 2023 Employee of the Year!

After TWO promotions in the past year, Amanda is now the payroll manager at InterSolutions. Amanda is never shy to take on new challenges, and her hardworking demeanor is an inspiration to all those who have the pleasure of working with her. Amanda’s leadership skills are admirable, and she always stays positive despite any challenges that she and her team may face. We are so happy to have Amanda as a part of Team InterSolutions.

We sat down with Amanda to get to know her a bit better, and this is what she had to say:

Amanda lives in New Jersey with her husband, two kids, and her sausage dog Oscar (Mayer), and says that she has made having a sausage dog her entire personality!  Amanda joined the InterSolutions team in 2020, and says that since then, she has learned something new every day and is exceptionally grateful to have met the most talented and passionate mentors and teammates!

What is your favorite part of your job and why?

“My favorite part of my job is problem-solving and connection building. I am in a unique position to build connections both internally and externally. We are doing important work at InterSolutions by connecting great employees with great properties, and producing long-lasting relationships every day, which affords me the opportunity to work closely with our back office, staffing and sales teams, our clients, and our workforce. The phone calls I get aren’t always easy, but nothing worth doing usually is! Let’s work through your inquiries together!”

What is your daily motivation? Is it something stationary that grounds you, or is it more adaptive and changing?

“What is my daily motivation? That’s a heavy question! My motivation is ever-changing, but mostly the difference the payroll department makes for our workforce. I am happy to come into work every day knowing that my work means something and knowing that the difference we make can potentially change someone’s day.”

If you could give your younger self any career advice, what would your advice be?

“If I could go back in time and give my younger self career advice it would be – take all the chances, knock on all the doors, make all the connections, and most importantly, do it with confidence. Confidence is key! Find a mentor who is confident in you until you can feel truly confident in yourself. Trust yourself, but always keep your mind open for learning! You don’t know what you don’t know, so never be afraid to ask questions. Compassion is not a weakness, always stay compassionate! Plus I’d give her a big hug and let her know that she’s doing a good job.”

If you could be any person for one day, who would you be and why?

“If I could be any person for a day… My immediate reaction is “Someone suuuuuper wealthy so that I can spend my day on a faraway tropical beach sipping mimosas”. It’s only one day, so I don’t have to worry about getting bored!”

What is one thing that you would not be able to live without? Why is it important to you?

“This answer is probably cliche, but my family. The personalities in my family are so vast that each person fills my soul with their own ingredients. I would not be the person I am if I didn’t have each of those ingredients every day.”

Imagine that you are granted a year-long break from work. How would you spend that year?

“A year-long break from work? Yeesh! I think I’d spend it traveling to as many places as possible. There are so many things to see and places to go, I think I could definitely fill a year up with something new as frequently as possible. Again, my immediate reaction is “sitting on a tropical beach sipping mimosas” but I do think I’d get bored after a while, and my urge to learn something new every day would eventually get me out of the beach chair!”

Thank you, Amanda, for taking the time to share about yourself and for letting us get to know you a bit more!
