Employee Spotlight: Meet Jamal Ahmed

Jamal Employee Spotlight

Meet Jamal Ahmed!

Born in New Haven, CT, Jamal has ventured through places like Richardson, TX, and Jefferson City, MO. However, the heart of his upbringing was in Leawood, KS. After high school, a tennis scholarship beckoned Jamal to Howard University in Washington DC. He has been proudly associated with InterSolutions for over two decades. Jamal’s journey here began as a Temporary associate, offering him firsthand experience in the industry. When he transitioned to a full-time position, the core of InterSolutions was a tight-knit team of just five. Witnessing the growth from 5 to a team of over 275 professionals today has been both rewarding and awe-inspiring for Jamal. Throughout these years, he has navigated through various operational roles such as Recruiter and Interviewer, Staffing Coordinator, and Operations Manager, eventually finding his calling in the sales domain, first as a Sales Executive and now as a Regional Sales Manager. Beyond work, Jamal is an avid reader and fitness enthusiast, often engaging in activities like running and tennis. These pursuits assist in his daily ambition of closing the Three Rings on his Apple Watch.

We sat down with Jamal to get to know him better, and this is what he had to say:

How do you create motivation for yourself and for your team?

Kobe Bryant’s musings on the interplay of doubt, success, and tenacity deeply resonate with me. He emphasized the need to remain present, to control what’s within our reach, and to embrace each day’s journey, irrespective of its outcome.

This philosophy aligns with my approach. Drawing from game theory, I view life as an iterated game. Each day’s endeavors lay the foundation for tomorrow. While today’s successes are rewarding, our vision extends far beyond the immediate. With every effort, we not only reduce uncertainties but also carve out opportunities. As I often say to our team, “Reps remove doubt.” Our diligent work enables us to find rewarding opportunities for our associates, creating jobs and assisting our clients in filling vital roles. In the realm of property management staffing, there’s a profound satisfaction in bridging needs with capabilities.

If you had to pick one, what have you found to be the most vital skill for your job?

Every day in staffing requires quick shifts in approach and understanding – that’s where Cognitive Flexibility comes in, helping me seamlessly connect with and respond to the diverse range of individuals we work with!

What advice would you give to someone new in the industry?

My advice for newcomers would be to invest in relationships and be an ever-eager learner. The Property Management sector is close-knit, and adaptability is your greatest ally.

If you could have an animal sidekick, what animal would it be and why?

I work to embody the spirit of the eagle, which is what I would choose as my animal sidekick. Flying through different roles, always adapting, and reaching for new heights in my journey.

What is something on your desk, on a nearby wall, or out a window that cheers you up while you work?

In my dining room, where I often sit to work, there’s a poignant writing on the wall: “Home, the place your story begins.” This resonates deeply, reminding me that each interaction, each opportunity we create at InterSolutions, is a new chapter in someone’s story. It’s not just about staffing; after two decades in this industry, I see more than ever that it’s about setting the stage for countless individual narratives in the realm of property management.

If a genie were to appear and grant you one wish, what would your wish be? Why?

This is a no-brainer for me… I’d ask the genie to grant me more wishes! After all, why settle for just one?!

Thank you, Jamal, for taking the time to share about yourself and for letting us get to know you a bit more!
