It’s Summer! Here Is How You Can Stay Properly Hydrated on the Job

We know workplace safety and comfort are major keys to productivity. Part of your focus should be on learning the signs of fatigue and discomfort before they cause a problem. Dehydration is something many people don’t realize they’ve experienced until it’s too late, especially in the heat of the summertime. It’s important to learn the dangers of dehydration and how to combat them even if you primarily work in an office.

Carry a Reusable Water Bottle

If you have water with you at all times, you’re more likely to drink it. This sounds far too simple a solution, but it really works. Get yourself a reusable water bottle and fill it regularly as you drink. While the amount of water is important, if you don’t already have a habit of drinking water, it’s more important to start doing it.

Add Sliced Fruit

If you don’t love the taste of plain water, a simple hack might be able to help you drink more. Add sliced fruit to your water bottle. Choose something you love like lemons or oranges. Or you can pick berries or even cucumber. Whatever you like that will encourage you to drink more, add it in.

Drink Water When You Feel Hungry

Sometimes we misread hunger for thirst. If your stomach is growling, don’t automatically reach for a snack. Take this as a signal your body is craving water. Drinking water before you eat can also help you feel fuller, faster.

Make a Schedule

If you have trouble drinking enough water, you can make a schedule. Take water breaks throughout the day. Challenge yourself to drink water after you complete a specific task. Make sure you’re drinking water during and after physical exertion.

Order Water With Meals

We know this sounds easy, and it is. Start ordering water instead of sodas, teas or even cocktails when you’re out for dinner. Not only will it help you stay hydrated, but it also has an added benefit of saving you money.
